(ENGLISH AHEAD) "¿Cómo te mantienes erguido en un mundo que te defrauda tanto? Miras al espejo y empiezas a temer que lo mejores años de la vida han pasado y no has ido mucho más allá. Si estás cansado de ser tú mismo, lánzate y sé otro... " Son estos algunos de los versos con los que Eytan and The Embassy construyen esta desenfadada canción acerca de los cambios en la vida. En el año que ahora comienza, lleno de determinaciones que casi nunca se cumplen, Eytan nos llama a travestirnos (bien visible el consejo en el vídeo) para combatir frustraciones. Cuando todos los manuales de autoayuda, los profesionales de la psicología y los educadores se empeñan en transmitirnos la importancia de ser uno mismo, vienen estos neoyorquinos tarados a decirnos que ya es hora de ser como aquellos que admiramos, de ponernos máscaras y pelucas y disfrutar de la vida sin prestarnos demasiada atención. Un curioso y no menos transgresor punto de vista para, al fin y al cabo, insistir en los temas universales del "carpe diem" y el "sic transit gloria mundi".

El tema es tan adictivo, joven y alegre que al que no le anime es que está muerto. Empieza con un teclado al estilo La revolución sexual, de La Casa Azul y luego se mete en los territorios que ya explotó  Toploader con su archifamoso Dancing In The Moonlight. Un poquito de Motown aquí y otro poco de indie-pop allá y ya la hemos montado. Un mainstream para masticar como los antiguos chicles Cheiw que no acababan nunca de soltar sabor a fresa. Una alternativa algo más edulcorada que el tema de Josephine, A Freak A, que ya reseñamos este año en What You're Missing, donde la cantante también nos pide en el estribillo que nos pusiéramos las máscaras. Pues eso, a disfrutar y a ser lo que a cada uno le dé la gana ser.

'How do you stand up straight in a world that puts you down? How do you know what's of this earth and what's divine? Well if you're tired of being yourself, go on and be somebody else'. These are some of the verses with which Eytan and The Embassy build this lighthearted song about the changes in life. This new year, full of resolutions that are almost never fulfilled, Eytan calls for transvestism (a piece of advice clearly visible in the video) to combat frustrations. When all self-help manuals, shrinks and educators strive to convey the importance of being yourself, these crazy New Yorkers tell us that it is time to be like those we admire, to put our masks and wigs on and enjoy life without paying much attention to ourselves. A curious and transgressive view to insist into on the universal themes of 'carpe diem' and 'sic transit gloria mundi' .

The track is so addictive, young and playful that anyone not cheering up must be certainly dead. It start with a keyboard-style like the one in La revolución sexual by Spanish band La Casa Azul and then gets into the territories that Toploader exploited in the hit Dancing In The Moonlight. A little of Motown touch here and a little bit of indie-pop there and the show can begin. A mainstream song that works as much as the old Cheiw bubblegum who had a neverending strawberry flavour. A much sweeter alternative than Josephine's A Freak A, which was already reviewed on What You're Missing, where the singer also encourages us to put on our masks. So, enjoy the year and just be whatever you wish to be.
