(ESPAÑOL ADELANTE) It's very hard to write and sing overtly about love, making it sound truthful without being cheesy. What surprises me is how so many shoddy songs talking about falling in love get so high in the charts. It is true that we all have felt a little idiot saying certain words and phrases to our lovers or a bit uneasy doing the predictable things that lovers are supposed to do, but here's where Matthew Sweet hits the nail on the head. The lyrics are short and simple and they seem to tell us nothing new and the music shows such joyous feeling that he manages to transmit the right mood -just listen to the rollicking guitars and the cheerful back vocals. Nevertheless, it is not the first nor the last song producing this effect on the listeners, but I appreciate the fact that he does not fall back on clichés. There's no "I'll love you till the end of time" or "You are the sunshine of my life". Instead, Matthew opens his heart with the most intimate and truthful offer: "You can wear my clothes". Thinking back, I myself can't find another moment when my present relationship really started to get serious. My lover was wearing my favourite T-shirt.

Es muy complicado escribir y cantar abiertamente sobre el amor mostrando honestidad sin caer en cursilerías. Lo que me sorprende es cómo tantas ñoñerías de canciones sobre enamoramientos llegan tan alto en las listas de éxitos. Es verdad que todos nos hemos sentido algo idiotas diciendo ciertas cosas a nuestras parejas o haciendo las cosas más previsibles que las parejas se supone que tienen que hacer, pero aquí es donde Matthew Sweet da en el clavo. La letra es corta y simple y parece que no cuenta nada nuevo y la música transmite tanto gozo que todo ello produce un magnífico estado de ánimo sólo con escuchar los coros y guitarras tan juguetonas. Sin embargo, no es la primera ni será la última canción que produzca esta sensación en los oyentes, pero es elogiable que no se quede en los clichés. No hay un "te querré hasta el final de mis días" o "eres la luz de mi vida". En lugar de eso, Matthew abre su corazón con la oferta de amor más íntima y honesta: "Te puedes poner mi ropa". Si pienso en el pasado, yo mismo no puedo encontrar otro momento en el que pensé que mi relación presente iba en serio. Mi pareja llevaba puesta mi camiseta preferida.
