(ESPAÑOL ADELANTE) Visually speaking, the image of an exhausted moth repeatedly hitting the glass of an incandescent light bulb is a powerful, yet disturbing picture. One wonders why such beings become so obsessed with the idea of getting closer and closer to a heat source that would eventually burn them away. This hypnotic view becomes a metaphor of too many recognizable bits of human behaviour.
It is precisely certain compulsive habits that we insist on what the song Broken Moth deals with. Such compulsion might take the shape of a sex encounter, a boozed up evening or a hazardous yet enchanting experience. The lyrics are playful in depicting both sides of desire, the luminous one but also the destructive one. We are many times driven to the chaos behind the vivid glow of burning lights. We could avoid it, but we wish to get burnt. So, why do we long for the killing flames? The track succeeds in stating this dualistic dilemma without clearly giving answers. Do we really need them?
Loki Starfish is a Paris-based electro-pop band that excels in the art of suggestion and chiaroscuro. Visualmente hablando, la imagen de una polilla agotada de golpear repetidamente el cristal de una bombilla incandescente es una imagen potente, pero inquietante. Uno se pregunta por qué esos seres se obsesionan con la idea de acercarse más y más a una fuente de calor que con el tiempo puede acabar abrasándolos. Esta visión hipnótica se convierte en una metáfora de demasiadas condiciones reconocibles de la conducta humana.
Son precisamente ciertos hábitos compulsivos en los que insistimos sobre lo que trata la canción Broken Moth. Tal compulsión puede tomar la forma de un encuentro sexual, una noche de excesos etílicos o una peligrosa a la vez que encantadora experiencia. La letra juega con la representación de ambos lados del deseo, el luminoso y también el destructivo. Somos muchas veces impulsados al caos detrás del vívido resplandor de las luces ardientes.
